Thursday, April 26, 2012 - Very Memorable Day for TWGSS Reunion

Alex P. Cheng, after his 10-day Grand Holidays tour in China and two-week vacation in Taiwan with his wife Jenny, he flew from Taiwan Taoyuan IA to Hong Kong on Monday, April 23, 2012. The TWGSS reunion was scheduled timely by Alice Kwan. Andy Ip Kai-Chi made the wonderful arrangement with the Palace Restaurant at Mong Kok. Alex arrived early and had some wonderful conversations with Andy and a nice cold beer prior to the arrival of other classmates and teachers. Alex was very glad to see that Fan Shek-Fu was able to come for the meeting with his lovely daughter Joyce. We appreciated very much for his coming out to meet us. Alex has not seen Shek-Fu since he left TWGSS in September 1968. It was so wonderful to see William Fok Po-Ming who just came back from Chungking (Chongqing), China. We all had some wonderful conversations that evening with William and some of our classmates agreed to visit Zhong Shan in the following week. The attendees included TWGSS former teachers Miss Rosalie Cheung, Mr. Chung To-Wan and Miss Yu and her husband Mr. Ng. The out-of-town guests included Alex P. Cheng (Fairfax, VA, USA) and William Fok Po-Ming (Zhong Shan, China). The classmates included Alfred So Yat-Fan, Alice Kwan, Andy Yip Kai-Chi, Au Kwok-Ling, Charles Liu Kai-Chung, Cheung Lin-Chun, Connie Chan, Fan Shek-Fu, Lo Kam-Chuen, Napoleon Lam Chi-Keung, Nelson Cheung Chun-Tat, Peter Pang Yam-Kwan, Roman Ip Tak-Cheung, Wu Pun-Ying, and Tse Chi-Chung.

Saturday, April 28, 2012 - Another Very Memorable Day for TWGSS Classmates and Alumni.

Alex was able to meet Ng Hon-Man, Wong Shui-Kong and Lam K.Yuen (TWGSS '67) whom he has not met since his 1968 departure from Hong Kong. Andy Yip, Lo Kam-Chuen, Roman Ip Tak-Cheung and Lam K. Yuen gathered for afternoon tea at Ming Sing Restaurant in Mong Kok. Then we played eight rounds of Mah-jong in nearby Mah-jong House. First time we played with the Automatic Table. Alex was very happy to have had the opportunity to play mah-jong with his classmates. We had a lot of fun.

Thursday, May 3, 2012 - Ferry to Zhong Shan - the Birth Place of Dr. Sun Yat Sen.

There were a total of seven classmates and alumni (Stanley Lai Chi-Wai, Chow Kim-Sing, Roman Ip Tak-Cheung, Lam K. Yuen, Peter Pang Yam-Kwan, Lo Kam-Chuen and Alex P. Cheng) who made the ferry trip. Mr. Peter Pang's wife also came along as they have acquainted with William Fok very well. This was the third time they visited William. Mr. Pang was kind enough to get the ferry tickets (HK $210.00 one way) in advance for all. [The ferry to Hong Kong from Zhong Shan costs RMB $120.00 for Seniors aged sixty years or over. (a discount of RMB $30.00) The ferry trip took about 1 hour 30 minutes. Upon arrival at 11:30 AM, we were greeted by Mr. Fok's chauffer. We were taken to his manufacturing facility. We briefly toured his office and Mr. Fok briefed about his business model. It was quite interesting. Then we went to lunch and we were invited to stay in the " Hiyet Oriental Hotel" by the river (Qijiang). After lunch, we have tried the "Foot Bath" which included massage of the body in a salon large enough for four or five guests. It was quite relaxing. The "Foot Bath" has been very common in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.
We had a wonderful dinner at a Sea Food Restaurant. What really surprised me was the order of a "Roast Pig" by William. We ate the whole pig by tearing the roast pig piece by piece. It was quite an experience. In the evening, we had boat cruise of the Ki River (Qijiang). It was really wonderful. I have captured a video which showcases the beautiful tour and the fountains by the River with music of "Butterfly Lover". The file was too big to share with alumni through the internet. For those classmates and alumni residing in Hong Kong, a visit of Zhong Shan is highly recommended due to its proximity to Hong Kong. Retirement in Zhong Shan could be an option. Due to his short stay in Hong Kong, Alex could only stay in Zhong Shan for one night. He would like to visit Zhong Shan with his wife when they will be visiting Taiwan and Hong Kong in the future.

The Hong Kong and Zhong Shan Reunions were made possible by the enthusiastic participation of our classmates and alumni. The wonderful memories of our gatherings will stay amongst us forever. Special thanks to William Fok for his generosity and friendliest treatment for our classmates and alumni as VIP guests during our stay in Zhong Shan, China.
Our best wishes to you all - TWGSS teachers, classmates and alumni.

The next big challenge will be "When and where shall we meet again?"
