TWGSS Reunion with the visit of Patrick and Natasha Chan June 2013 to Vancouver, BC, Canada

Recap of Alaska King Crab Night at my house: All was good as you can see from the Album. My husband, Michael, went and got the 2 King Crabs; 5 BC Dungeon Crabs; Black Cod (Frozen); fresh chicken, veggie, Roast rib and lo mei cooked; fruit, winter melon and pork; Patti (1979 F5 grad) bought prawns. Michael waited for the King crabs which did not arrive at the store till 5:30 pm. He drove from Richmond to home, usually takes an hr, but got stuck in real bad traffic. All of us were waiting w/hungry stomach. I boiled 3 pots of water so everything would be ready when he came home. He made it home at 7 pm and we were eating prawns in 15 mins he then kept cooking while we ate all dishes hot and fresh; made the winter melon/mushroom/diced pork broth, etc. Everyone loved the Pak Cheek chicken¨ he served with ginger/green onion sauce. Then we tried out the King Crab (cooked whole in hot water). Watt Sir said it was so fresh/Ho Mei than the restaurants. Michael explained it was because it was cooked in whole and cut and served right a way. We ate the first one while the 2nd one was being cooked so you can imagine how steamy hot and fresh those big claws are when they are served. Too bad the King crabs were smaller than usual (used to have 10-11 pounders), so he had to get two of them. Then he cooked the fresh BC Crabs (we could only manage to finish 2 of those) and green veggie. We then had pan fried black cod wedges w/green onion-soy sauce. The dessert would have been Kwai Fa Go by Mok Lai and fruit. We were too full and only had the Kwai Fa and the fruit was left behind and given out to whoever wanted the green grapes and apricot to take home. Natasha got a great recipe from Mok Lai Ying for making Kwai Fa Go in a golden fish mould. Natasha was given the mould as a gift by Mok Lai Ying to bring back to CA. All were very tasty. Watt Sirˇ¦s and Patrickˇ¦s money was well spent. They were each given a whole BC crab cooked as a thankyou token. Mok Lai Ying too was given one for bringing the dessert. I could have given May and Bill Tse one for they brought 2 bottles of red wine and 1 Korean Whisky from the boyfriend of Mayˇ¦s daughter (who arrived in the morning same day from Seoul, Korea). Mayˇ¦s daughter was too tired and did not join us.

To introduce you to who is who; 1st pic from photo above top row L to R, Patrick Chan/Michael (My hubby)/Mok Lai/Patti Sit/Watt Sir/Bill (Mayˇ¦s hubby); lower row Barbara Chan Mei Har/Natasha-Patrick 's wife, Susanna and Monica Li Hoi Wan. The one in dark blue T shirt, white glasses is the boyfriend of Mayˇ¦s daughter, Eddie Chen. He is also a TWGSS alumni - 1993. .

The TWGSS June Reunion in Vancouver were made possible by the enthusiastic participation of our classmates and alumni. The wonderful memories of our gatherings will stay amongst us forever. Thanks and our best wishes to you all - TWGSS teachers and alumni.

The next big challenge will be "When and where shall we meet again?"

It appears that Vancouver has been chosen by TWGSS classmates and alumni the favorite place for reunions in the past two years. In August 2011, we have celebrated the 50th Anniversary Reunions. In May 2012, Mr. and Mrs. Kwong (Kwong Kam-Yuen and Betty Chan Wing-Yuen, both TWGSS '66) visited Vancouver; then in August 2012, Chow Kim-Sing and Steve Chu both TWGSS '67 visited Vancouver. They were then followed by Stella Lee (TWGSS '66) and her husband David Lee from New York, Simon and his wife Esther Leung, both TWGSS '66 from Alberta. We were very happy and surprised to see Bobby and Connie Chan (both TWGSS '66 from Hong Kong) also visited Vancouver in October, 2012. The visit of Patrick and Natasha Chan to Vancouver motivated us for TWGSS reunion in June 2013. Special thanks to Susanna Ng and her husband for serving as excellent hosts for the June 2013 reunions at their residence. The attendance of TWGSS alumni and former TWGSS teacher (Watt Sir) have made every reunion a memorable and wonderful event which remains in our hearts forever. Thanks for sharing all the wonderful reunion photos.
